Violin

I sit alone in the auditorium
Listening to this wonderful melody
That is being played by the boy up on stage
In a way I'm invisible
Because he is so absorbed in his playing
That he does not notice me
But still I stay here and listen
His music is beautiful to me
It evokes feelings in me that I never knew were there
And I wonder why no one else seems to recognize it
Perhaps it is because he is so shy
And people are not willing to break that small barrier
So that they can hear and see the treasures that lay beyond it
They are not willing to even do a little bit of work to get what they want
And it frustrates me
He stops playing then
And I begin to applaud him
He turns to look at me
But says nothing his eyes questioning me
As if he wondered why I had come
I expect him to leave then
Instead he gestures toward the piano
And then towards me
I smile and begin to make my way to the stage
After all how could I refuse?
I consider it an honor to play with such a master of music.
